Camp Abilities at Lions Camp Merrick

is a developmental sports camp for children with visual impairments who are 9-18 years old.

                                                                                                          

   

Camp Dates:

Campers: August 15th-17th, 2008

Counselors: August 14th-17th, 2008

Athlete Eligibility:

  • Athletes must have a visual impairment.
  • Must have a vision teacher.
  • Must possess verbal or sign communication skills.
  • Must be predominantly independent (bathing, toileting, dressing etc).

 

 

 

Volunteers:

Camp Abilities is looking for volunteers who will work on a 1:1 ratio with our student athletes. Responsibilities include: being a sighted guide for the athletes, being a mentor, buddy and friend. Someone who can build an athlete's self-esteem and confidence, both physically, socially and emotionally. To sign up please click on the Volunteer staff tab.

Lions Camp Merrick is a beautiful residential camp facility located on 320 acres in southern Maryland. Camp is on the shores of the Potomac River, it is about about 40 miles south of Washington, D.C.
